Building, sweating, praying & signing together – it’s the real Tribe experience. The sweatlodge offers us the opportunity to let go of old energies that don’t serve us anymore, and to rebirth ourselves to a new higher version of ourselves. We set intentions, attune to our inner wisdom, and embrace ourselves in a sacred space. It is a powerful way to release stress, clear the mind, and experience a deeper connection with oneself, the elements and the Great Spirit. A day when strangers become family-members; where everybody is more than welcome!

What’s it about

The sweatlodge originally stems from Native American tribes who see this ritual as going back into the womb and get rebirthed from it. But there is enough proof that our European Ancient Ancestors did the same! It is a place of healing, prayer, and connection with the natural world and the great spirit of all.

This powerful sweatlodge ceremony is led by Mark Hoek and his team who create a safe and respectful environment to connect and purify our bodies, minds, and spirits.  The sweatlodge is a place of community and sharing. We come together as a circle of brothers & sisters to support each other on our personal journeys of growth and transformation. We bring each other home!!

Join is for a true tribal day with group meditation, building, sharing, sweating, praying, singing & sharing food together! Whether you are new to sweatlodge ceremonies or experienced, you are very welcome to join us.

This sweatlodge ceremony is hosted by Avalon in Schoorl. It’s quite different from other lodges, as water pourer ‘Mark Hoek’ combines elements from various sweatlodge traditions and translates them into the everyday reality here. The sweatlodge ceremony is not a rigid protocol, but rather a journey. The foundational elements for every lodge are the same: trust, connection, and responsibility.

What to expext?

Our ceremony begins with a stone blessing ceremony, where we bless the stones that will enter the lodge. We dance, drum, and sing to bless the fire and heat the stones. While the fire burns, you can spiritually prepare for the sweat lodge. Meditate, connect with the space, and create a tobacco or prayer pouch to take into the lodge. Then we will enter the lodge.

The Sweatlodge experience

Before we enter the lodge, you will be cleansed with the smoke of white sage. We make a tobacco offering to the fire and invite the directions, spirit, Mother Earth, ancestors, and totems to support the ceremony. Inside the lodge, you will find a spot around the sacred pit, and the firekeeper will place the glowing hot stones inside. The door closes, and it becomes dark, with only the glowing stones visible. Then the journey begins.

Deeper level of awareness

In the sweat lodge, you let go of the everyday and move beyond personality, thoughts, and programmed emotions to a much deeper level of awareness. Here, you find the power for healing, wisdom, and dreamtime. Our sweat lodge ceremony is an opportunity to connect more deeply with yourself, others, and the natural world.

Practical information

Times: Start: 11:00 AM & end around 7:00 PM
Price: Buy a ticket for € 20,- and bring € 50,- cash to the event.
What to bring: two towels or wraps, a water bottle, soulfood/snacks, music instruments, toiletries, and something for the altar

Health recommendation

We recommend avoiding alcohol or drugs for at least 24 hours before and after the ceremony.
If you have significant physical conditions or concerns, please consult us in advance.
We would also like to be informed if you have a history of psychosis, use drugs, or take medication for psychological reasons.
